🌿 Description

Aloe wickensii, or Wickens’ Aloe, is a beautiful and uncommon aloe species admired for its upright, symmetrical rosette and striking color contrast—green leaves with reddish tones along the edges and tips. Grown from seed here in Elfin Forest, California, each plant develops its own unique color character depending on light and temperature.

Unlike larger tree-forming aloes, Aloe wickensii remains compact and trunkless, making it perfect for pots, rock gardens, or small landscape spaces. Mature plants can produce tall yellow flower spikes (sometimes tinged with orange), attracting pollinators and adding a bright accent to any collection. It’s both drought-tolerant and easy to grow, thriving in well-draining soil and full to partial sun.
